TRICKS FOR SECURE MICROSOFT WORD FILE AT REINSTALLING

This time we will discuss how to make Microsoft Word files safe when the computer / laptop is in trouble and must be reinstalled.

This trick is anticipated so that when reinstalling, the files are safe, and we are not bothered with the files stored in directory C. The key word is to save the files into a directory other than the C directory (Local Disk) which is mainly is the directory where the Windows system and other programs are running.

This trick is also so that the C directory where the programs are running is not 'burdened' with the files we store. When we install Microsoft Office software, the default storage (read: standard / automatic) will be saved in the part of directory C. as shown below.

Parts of libraries / documents, music, pictures, and videos are part of the C directory. Often users of computers / laptops do not pay attention to them, so that when they are re-installed they don't realize it (that there are still files in directory C) or if asked the technician who will reinstall 'is there still a file in C' answered no more. Though there are still documents, music, pictures, and videos that are part of the C directory.

This is also a way of anticipation if the HDD (Hard Disk) experiences Bad Sector. In the case of Bad Sector, generally the part that experiences 'bad' is the C directory where the operating system and the program are running, so in general the directories other than C can still be 'saved'. So if we have anticipated this, the data or files can still be saved if there is a 'bad sector'. Unless the HDD is totally extinguished.

Addition: so also in the Downloads section (like the picture below), which is also part of the C directory, so often after it's finished reinstalling, we lose important data or software, etc. that we have downloaded.

Therefore, to secure these data we must anticipate them well. Here's the anticipatory trick.

In Microsoft Word (an example of Microsoft Word 2010)
Click File, then click Options

Then click Save. Look at the Default File Locations (by default) the file will be stored in C: \ Users \ 200M \ Documents \ (200M is the identity of your computer or laptop, if your computer's identity is BUDI, it will be C: \ Users \ BUDI \ Documents \). So the files will be stored in the Libraries / documents section. To change it click Browse (as shown below)

Then a new window will appear as shown below. This is a Modify Location window or window to modify the location of files to be saved by default. Select the D directory (depending on the directory on your laptop, generally the directory for storing data or files is labeled with directory D, then click OK. Then the Modify Location window will close, then click OK also in the Word Options window. Finish.

Now try to close Microsoft Word. And reopen, you can try typing / making or making one file, then save, then you will see that Microsoft Word will automatically be saved in the D directory.

For settings in Microsoft Excel can be seen in the TRICKS FOR SECURE MICROSOFT EXCEL FILE AT REINSTALLING.
